  • What should be considered when installing Mertani devices?
What needs to be considered when installing Mertani devices is the presence of a signal and the vegetation or planting distance density. In some specific cases, when installing an AWLR, there are also several considerations that will determine the type of sensor used, such as peat depth, water level fluctuations, and so on. We recommend further discussion to determine the sensor that is suitable for the field conditions.
  • If there is a need for parameters that are not listed in Mertani's brochures or other publications, can Mertani provide them?
If there are specific parameters needed, please feel free to contact us to discuss those requirements further.
  • How much coverage can be provided by one unit of Automatic Weather Station (AWS)?
One unit of Mertani AWS can cover an area of 2000 hectares. Another example is that in a scenario with four divisions, one division can be represented by one AWS, while the other three use Automatic Rainfall Recorders (ARR).
  • Can Mertani devices be used to forecast the weather?
Mertani devices assist plantations in recording weather data or parameters such as rainfall, temperature, humidity, wind pressure, wind direction and speed, Groundwater Level (TMAT), Channel Water Level (TMAS), and so on. This data is then processed internally by the plantation's team to aid in planning and decision-making, including irrigation, fertilization, and other actions related to plant care.
  • Why is the Mertani logo in the form of a goat? Is there any connection to livestock farming?
The Mertani logo, from a philosophical perspective, is aligned with the company's name, "Merapi Tani Instrumen," where "Merapi" is closely associated with "wedhus gembel" or volcanic ash, which is hoped to bring benefits to the surrounding community.
  • What types of connections are used by Mertani devices?
Connections can be using WiFi, 2G and 4G.
  • If the monitoring point doesn't have a signal, can it be IoT-enabled for data collection?
In case of a blindspot location, Mertani provides two options. If you want the data to be automatically sent, you can use LoRa. The other option is to use Bluetooth, which collects data once a month or as needed, depending on your preferences.
  • When the signal suddenly disappears, is the data still safe and sent?
Mertani devices are equipped with a memory card that allows data to be stored when the signal is lost. Once the signal becomes available again, the data will be sent, and the data stored on the memory card will be automatically deleted.
  • What is the power source used in Mertani devices?
Mertani devices use batteries that can be charged with solar panels or manually charged using an adapter. In some specific cases, such as when using CCTV, power from an accumulator or car battery may be required.
  • How long can the battery of Mertani devices last after manual charging?
The AWLR device can last for approximately 3 to 4 months. This duration may vary depending on the signal condition, as poorer signal conditions can lead to higher power consumption.
