Rapid population growth in both urban and river basin areas has a significant impact on river water pollution. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) has created the Online Monitoring (Onlimo) program to facilitate monitoring in waste management.

The use of monitoring data from the Onlimo program supports the Water Quality Index (IKA) as one of the necessary pieces of information for obtaining the Environmental Quality Index (IKLH).

Onlimo can detect environmental quality at any time, so if there is pollution, it can be addressed promptly, and the risk of pollution-related consequences can be reduced.

Online Monitoring, or Onlimo, is a continuous, automatic, and online water quality monitoring system through an application, connected to the KLHK server system. The presence of Onlimo provides significant support in obtaining real-time water quality data and enables rapid detection of changes in water quality status

Schematic Onlimo
Onlimo consists of several main parts :
1.Data Acquisition
The data acquisition process is carried out by digital sensors placed at predetermined coordinates. These sensors are responsible for converting parameter units into electronic units, which are then converted into digital data.
2.Temporary Data Storage
Data measured by digital sensors is then stored in the internal flash memory located inside the data logger.
3.Data Transmission
Data stored in flash memory is then transmitted to the central server through selected data communication media. The data communication media used can be GSM/GPRS/3G/4G, radio frequency, or satellite.

4.Data Management
Data received by the central server is processed and stored in a database system. This database system can be accessed by users through web applications or mobile applications.

5.Data Information Delivery
Data information available in the database system can be delivered to users through various means, such as email, SMS, or application notifications.

6.Early Warning System
This system aims to provide information to users when there is a significant change in water quality or when it exceeds the established quality standards. The system can send early warnings through email, SMS, or application notifications to registered users.

Pass Connectivity Test
Based on the results of connectivity tests on logger equipment, automatic, continuous and online water quality monitoring (ONLIMO).
So the water pollution control directorate of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry explained that the company PT. Merapi Tani Instruments was declared to have passed the connectivity test for the automatic, continuous and online water quality monitoring server system, by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
